Getting Documents & Materials into Lexbe Online
You can do a lot with Lexbe Online without adding documents or other materials, like setting up issues, facts, case participants and generating timelines. However, the true power of Lexbe Online becomes available when you add evidence. This evidence can be in form of documents or could be other tangible evidence such as photos or video depositions.
Documents can be added in almost any format, including Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, Excel or Powerpoint, WordPerfect and TIFF. Video files (AVI, MOV, MPEG, etc.), or audio files (MPEG, WAV, etc.) can also be added. Most text-based file formats, including PDF, are automatically indexed and searchable once uploaded to Lexbe Online.
Self-Serv File Upload. The quickest way to get documents and other evidence into Lexbe is to upload them yourself. There is no charge for uploading documents yourself and you pay only for the storage used. You can upload documents in any format, including PDF, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, TIF, etc. (Access from top menu: Management>Add Case Documents)
To upload, simply select the files to be uploaded on your computer using our multi-file upload facility and upload them into your case.
OCR on the Server. Most document types are searchable within Lexbe. These includes text-based files like Word, Excel and PDF documents that have been converted from text based files. But it is also true of PDF files based on paper-based scans, because Lexbe has an optical character recognition (OCR) engine on the server that automatically makes all PDF files searchable. There is no extra charge for this service.
Send Documents to Us. If you prefer you can send documents to us and we will process and upload them to your applicable case in Lexbe. Our
paper-based services include scanning from paper to PDF or TIFF. We also add Bates numbering and assist with production sets. And we offer tagging services of adding objective
coding to documents as needed. Paper-based services are priced by the page, to
make job costing more predictable.
Send Files & e-Discovery to Us. We also handle file conversions and assist with e-Discovery production sets. In particular, we will convert TIFFs to PDFs and visa versa, and convert native file documents (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, WordPerfect) to PDF or TIF. As with our paper-based services, we also add Bates numbering, objectively tag and assist with production sets. File-based services are priced by the MB/GB, to make job costing more predictable.
Outlook PST files. Outlook
PST files may be the most important files in a case, but are difficult to work with.
PSTs are important as email has increasingly become the most
important type of recorded communication that can be retrieved and used in
litigation. It is difficult to work with as all emails, relevant and
not, are aggregated in one PST file. These files can be huge, often
reaching a GB or two for persons who actively use email. Lexbe
Digitization offers an easy conversion service to make relevant emails
accessible. You send us a PST file (by CD, DVD flash drive or HDD), and we
separate out all emails and attachments and upload them to your Lexbe Online
account so you can easily search and find the relevant ones.
